Privacy policy

Effective date: 11 April 2026

This policy explains how Rankline collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information. Rankline is committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information we collect

Onboarding information: Business name, website URL, suburb, state, industry type, key services, contact name, email address, and any additional business details you provide during the full onboarding process.

Payment information: Processed and stored by Stripe. Rankline does not receive, access, or store your credit card number or bank details. We receive confirmation of payment status and your Stripe customer ID only.

Content preferences: Feedback you provide through revision requests, tone preferences, and any profile updates you submit.

Website data: Information collected from your publicly available website during onboarding, used to analyse your tone and service offerings for content generation.

Usage data: Email delivery status (opened, delivered, bounced). Rankline does not use cookies or tracking scripts on its website beyond any default analytics provided by Squarespace.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to produce and deliver content tailored to your business, process payments and manage your subscription, send delivery emails containing your articles, improve the content engine based on aggregated feedback patterns, and communicate with you about your account or the service.

Copies of delivered content (including article delivery emails, revision delivery emails, and service failure notifications) are retained by the Rankline team for quality assurance and platform monitoring. These copies are held internally and are not shared with third parties.

We do not use your information for marketing to third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

3. How we store your information

Your business profile and content history are stored in a database hosted on Railway (railway.app), a cloud infrastructure provider with servers located in the United States. Your payment information is stored by Stripe under their own security standards and privacy policy.

Rankline uses reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission. However, no system is completely secure. Rankline cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

4. Sharing your information

Rankline shares your information only with the following third party service providers, solely for the purpose of operating the service:

Stripe (stripe.com) for payment processing. Resend (resend.com) for email delivery. Anthropic (anthropic.com) for AI content generation. Railway (railway.app) for application hosting and database storage. Squarespace (squarespace.com) for the marketing website and onboarding forms.

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and data handling practices. Rankline does not control how these providers handle your data beyond the scope of the service.

Rankline may also disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rankline or others.

5. Overseas data transfer

Your data may be transferred to and stored in countries outside Australia, including the United States, through the third party providers listed above. By using the service, you consent to this transfer. Rankline takes reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Data retention

Rankline retains your business profile, content history, and preferences for as long as your subscription is active, and for 12 months after cancellation in case you resubscribe. After 12 months, your data is permanently deleted unless you request earlier deletion.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing articles@rankline.com.au. Rankline will process deletion requests within 30 days. Some data may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as payment records for tax compliance).

7. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to access the personal information Rankline holds about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information (subject to legal obligations), and lodge a complaint if you believe your privacy has been breached.

To exercise any of these rights, email articles@rankline.com.au.

8. Cookies and analytics

The Rankline website is hosted on Squarespace, which may use cookies for basic site functionality and analytics. Rankline does not deploy additional tracking cookies, retargeting pixels, or third party advertising scripts. For details on Squarespace's cookie usage, refer to Squarespace's privacy policy.

9. Email communications

Rankline sends transactional emails only: article deliveries, revision confirmations, account updates, and service notifications. These are not marketing emails and are necessary for the operation of the service. You cannot opt out of transactional emails while your subscription is active.

Rankline does not send promotional email campaigns or newsletters. If this changes in future, you will be given the option to opt in, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

10. Children

The service is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. Rankline does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Rankline, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

Rankline may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to active subscribers. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.

12. Complaints

If you believe Rankline has breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us at articles@rankline.com.au. We will investigate and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
